ARGIPLAST has developed a new barrier film for soil fumigation with methyl bromide and alternative gasses ECO-BROM® is made with three layers in the following sequence : LLDPE/POLYAMIDE/LLDPE.The peculiar Polyamide used grants an excellent barrier property. The permeability to the methyl bromide of ECO-BROM® film is widely lower than 0.2 gr/m2/hour, as required by the French Normative NFT 54-195. This means that ECO-BROM® has a MB permeability and Alternative Gasses permeability about 300 times lower than a Polyethylene film. This “Virtual Impermeability” allows to reduce the dosages of Methyl Bromide and Alternative Gasses up to 50%, achieving a drastic reduction of the damages to farmers’ health and fulfilling, at the same time, a better fumigation without increasing the costs. Its optimal mechanical properties allow the film to be used, wherever it is possible, also a following utilization as mulching. ECO-BROM® film is normally made in two versions:
• ECO-BROM® Neutral: with transparent shape: it can be used only once during the fumigation and then removed. Its mechanical characteristics and its stabilization are similar to a standard Neutral Polyethylene.
• ECO-BROM® Black: the black colour allows the film to be used as sole film for fumigation and, once left on the ground, as a mulching foil. Its life is about one cultivation season. The ECO-BROM® films are made according to the pecifications
required by the French Normative NTF 54-195.
